USAID’s health portfolio in Bolivia is supporting the Government’s Health Sector Strategy to reduce exclusion of the rural indigenous population from the public health system. The program addresses strengthening the nation’s health system in order to respond to the needs of a diverse Bolivian population and focuses explicitly on reducing social exclusion from healthcare USAID also addresses the need for equity of access and cultural acceptability and builds on the experiences and lessons learned from prior Health strategies.
Sustainable Development and Environment
USAID helps improve the livelihood of Bolivians through sustainable income generation and natural resources management. Program areas focus on economic opportunities for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises so they can take advantage of market opportunities, create employment, and increase production in targeted sectors. They also focus on biodiversity conservation and sustainable natural resource management in the Bolivian Amazon, around Lake Titicaca, and in the Chaco forest.
