USAID/Benin and Population Services International promote behavior
change among the youth through radio talk show
In January 2004, USAID/Benin and Population Services International (PSI) started a series of radio talk shows with the theme "Amour et Vie" (Love and life). The aim of this activity was to create conducive conditions for the youth to access information on relationships. The interactive radio talk show enables teenagers to participate either as hosts or callers.
The weekly radio talk shows, conducted in partnership with the state-owned radio station (ORTB), create a forum for young boys and girls to discuss reproductive health issues, and especially HIV/AIDS. Resource persons are invited to provide informed answers to questions raised by the young participants.
To celebrate the 100th radio talk show, a ceremony assembled all the actors involved in "Amour et Vie" at the offices of PSI on March 26, 2006. Invited guests included Mr. Rudolph Thomas, USAID/Benin Director and various resource persons who participate in the program.
Mr. Rudolph Thomas handed over certificates to twelve young participants whose contributions were deemed instrumental to the success of the program. The certificates acknowledged their efforts to advance HIV/AIDS prevention and the reproductive health agenda among the youth.
