A series of TV talk-shows with the title “What do Women Want?” is raising public awareness on discrimination against women and promoting women’s participation in political processes.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of Azerbaijan (NGO Support Council) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing their partnership in the implementation of the Socio-Economic Development Activity (SEDA) in Azerbaijan. Ms. Paige Alexander, Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), arrived in Azerbaijan on a two-day visit.
She will join Mr. Thomas Melia, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy and Human Rights, and will meet Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, to discuss inter-governmental development cooperation between the United States and Azerbaijan. The high-level delegation is also expected to meet with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

The training was organized by IREX and its partner Regional Cooperation and Community Development Center (RCCDC). The participants – new bloggers – stepped boldly into the blogosphere after learning to register blog addresses, upload pictures and videos.
