- Mr. Missen has helped the University to demonstrate in a quite practical way what can be accomplished when appropriate funds are allocated for advanced information technologies and made accessible to students, particularly undergraduates.
- The campus infrastructure features a fiber backbone linking numerous departmental LANs and computer laboratories. What is somewhat unique is the decision to place most new computers in a laboratory for general access rather than on faculty desks.

- The University is hopeful that a VSAT satellite dish will be installed soon. Funds are on deposit for this purpose. Regulatory clearance is pending from the Nigerian government.
- Mr. Missen is circulating two proposals under which the University of Iowa would make technical assistance available to many more African universities, and to build local library information storage facilities. These proposals have been circulated to Leland Coordinators in USAID Africa Missions.
