West African Cover Crops
Information Technology Experiment
April 1999
- This is actually two experiments in one.
- The agronomic experiment will collect data simultaneously throughout
West Africa on Mucuna photoperiod sensitivity and germination, response
to moisture, etc.

- The information technology meta-experiment will observe whether
those with excellent access to information technology are better able
to undertake the agronomic experiment.
- Those with good access to the Internet will submit data weekly to
the IITA, and will in return receive a weekly updated copy of the
IITA database in order to compare their ongoing results with those
of other sites in West Africa.

- Those with good access to the Internet will also participate in
an electronic conference in which ongoing results will be discussed,
discrepancies in methods resolved, technical questions referred to
experts, etc.
