TIRANA, February 11, 2015—In response to a request for assistance from the Government of Albania, the U.S. Embassy, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), will provide up to $750,000 in additional technical and financial assistance for those in agricultural areas who have been affected by the recent flooding.

TIRANA, JANUARY 28, 2015—Today, more than one hundred people showed up for the screening of a new documentary, “Economic Empowerment of People with Disabilities through Employment,” a film about a unique program that has helped people with disabilities in Albania overcome isolation and prejudice and enter into the country’s labor workforce. The film was introduced by USAID Country Representative, Marcus Johnson, the Minister of Social Welfare and Youth, Mr. Erion Veliaj and Blerta Çani, ADRF Executive Director.
Today, Deputy Chief of Mission, Henry Jardine, and the Minister of Social Welfare and Youth, ErionVeliaj, toured an emergency shelter, called "Streha," to support LGBT individuals as part of its official opening.
XARRA, ALBANIA--Today, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Water Administration, Edmond Panariti, USAID/Albania Director, Marcus Johnson, and the Head of Xarre Commune, Dhimiter Kote, took part in a special celebration to promote Albanian citrus production at the 3rd annual Mandarin Festival in Xarra.
