Employment for All: A Right and Opportunity for Empowerment

Implementing Partners: Saraki Foundation

DPO Partners: The Center for Information and Resource Development (CIRD), National Coordination for the Promotion of the Rights of People with Disabilities (CONAPRODIS)

Funding Amount: $219,912

USAID/Paraguay works to encourage the integration of disability issues into government and society through its program implemented by Fundacion Saraki. Fundacion Saraki is conducting a labor inclusion program that aims to promote the reform of national and local labor laws. These laws will then better reflect the rights of people with disabilities, in accordance with international conventions and the International Labor Organization (ILO) standards.

The program also seeks to

  • increase employment in private and public companies and organizations
  • strengthen the capacity of DPO leaders in the areas of advocacy, fundraising, gender mainstreaming, and project management
  • promote the active participation of DPOs in the revision of labor legislation
  • ensure that national media and key journalists take a human rights approach and use an appropriate social model when interacting with or addressing issues regarding people with disabilities
