Expanding Participation of People with Disabilities in Guyana

Implementing Partners: Community Support and Development Services

DPO Partners: National Commission on Disabilities and other DPOs through a competitive process

Amount: $151,200

The USAID/Guyana program is implemented by the Community Support and Development Services, an existing mechanism that provides subgrants for various programs and activities.

This multifaceted program provides support to the National Commission on Disability in the implementation of the Disability Strategic Plan 2007-20011. The program offers small grants to three DPOs to advocate for policy change, communicate policy decisions, and provide people with disabilities with key services in education and employment placement.

Each of the selected DPOs also receives complementary capacity building training to help them better implement the grant. Training topics include governance and board development; financial management systems and accountability; human resources management; and organizational development.
