Promoting and Protecting the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Funding Period: September 2008 - June 2009

Amount: $300,000

The Center for Democratic Development (CDD) program in Ghana focuses on increasing the participation of people with disabilities in political processes by

  • integrating people with disabilities as domestic election observers
  • promoting disability issues in the electoral campaign process through constituency debate in selected constituencies
  • enhancing the participation of people with visual disabilities in elections through training on the tactile ballot system

Both the Ghana Federation of the Disabled and the Action on Disability and Development are active members and partners in the design and implementation of this program.
