An impact of the COVID pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City was the resignation of health care workers due to stress caused by working conditions. To prioritize the well-being of health care workers, USAID opened a wellness room at Binh Chanh District General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City as a dedicated space capable of accommodating up to 450 staff, to boost their mental health and wellbeing, so they can more effectively treat the more than 250,000 patients that visit the hospital each year.

The wellness room offers a respite for health workers from their often intense medical duties, and serves as a model for Vietnam’s Department of Health to expand this concept throughout the city’s hospitals.
