Reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health outcomes have improved in Zambia in recent years; however, access to and availability of high-quality health services in rural and remote areas to sustain the gains we have made remain a challenge. MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership (MCGL) is a global USAID initiative that works in partnership with member country governments to improve equitable access to integrated health care to ensure that women, children, families, and communities have access to high-quality reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health services.

In Zambia, MCGL aims to improve maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent health services, with a key focus on Central and Northern provinces, which bear a higher disease burden compared to other provinces. MCGL builds upon previous U.S. government investments in Zambia and takes an integrated and holistic approach to address several key focus areas including family planning and reproductive health, maternal health, newborn health, child health, water sanitation and hygiene, and gender.
