Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Lê Hoài Trung, member of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee, Chairman of the Commission for Foreign Relations. Administrator Power affirmed the importance of the U.S.-Vietnam comprehensive partnership, finalized ten years ago, and underscored the shared desire to further strengthen and elevate ties. The two emphasized how the security, economic, and development interests of the United States and Vietnam remain entwined, and discussed mutual priorities to advance climate action, specially in the Mekong Delta; address war legacies; support Vietnam’s investment in science and technology; respect civic space, improve public health; and advance higher education.
