USAID is fostering inter-ethnic collaboration in Kosovo by refurbishing the science and technology laboratories at RIT Kosovo that hosts the  Educational Partnership Hubs for Inter-ethnic Collaboration.

Ambassador Hovenier joined University leadership, students and business representatives for the  inaugural event. The Ambassador’s remarks emphasized the importance of this initiative, which encourages inter-ethnic collaboration through joint scientific projects and equips Kosovans with necessary skills to respond to the needs of a modern economy. Ambassador Hovenier highlighted the importance of the new laboratories in offering opportunities for students from diverse ethnic backgrounds, particularly young women and those from non-majority communities.

The Educational Partnership Hubs (EPH) for Inter-Ethnic Collaboration, is part of USAID’s American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA) partnership with the American University in Kosovo Foundation and RIT Kosovo (A.U.K), and  a crucial advancement in educational integration and excellence.

The USAID-supported laboratories give access to cutting-edge Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)  technologies for all of Kosovo’s youth, with emphasis on young women and marginalized communities.  Programs like this cultivate an inclusive and dynamic educational environment, thus helping shape the next generation of scientists, researchers and changemakers in Kosovo and beyond.
