Vietnam recently strengthened a range of legislation protecting the environment. These measures collectively strengthen protections for wildlife and confront illegal wildlife trade, including significant new authorities related to transboundary wildlife trafficking.

USAID’s support for this legislation ensured that wildlife protection is a cornerstone of ongoing forestry protection efforts in Vietnam and aligns the country with international wildlife protection treaties to which it is a signatory, including the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
