Trip Advisory

Senior USAID officials, including Administrator Samantha Power and Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman, will travel to New York, New York, to attend the 78th annual UN General Assembly (UNGA) High Level Week. The officials will speak to the U.S. government’s priorities and share how USAID is leading efforts to advance global food security, promote global health, combat climate change, and strengthen democracy globally.

EVENTS AND PRESS ENGAGEMENTS

On Friday, September 15, Administrator Power will participate in an interview with Foreign Policy Live to discuss the USAID’s priorities at UNGA including Russia’s war against Ukraine, how to strengthen democracy, and USAID’s climate initiatives. On Monday, September 18, Administrator Power will participate in a live discussion with the Washington Post on addressing the climate crisis. The event will take place at 3:30 p.m. EST and be livestreamed here. Find out more information here

Also on Monday, the Administrator will also join Norwegian Minister of International Development Anne Beathe Tvinnereim, and World Economic Forum President Børge Brende, in hosting an event on delivering critical investments to agricultural small and medium sized businesses in Africa. On Tuesday, September 19, Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman will participate in an event with the Atlantic Council to announce a call for private sector innovations as part of USAID’s larger push to fight against corruption. Deputy Administrator Coleman will also participate in a Foreign Press Center briefing to discuss how the U.S. is leading the global response to humanitarian crises around the world as countries grapple with food insecurity, climate crisis, and a rising number of disasters. Additionally, she will highlight her recent trip to Tanzania, where she led the U.S. delegation to the Africa Food Systems Forum. The event will take place at 4:00 p.m. EST. 

On Wednesday, September 20, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Administrator Power, in partnership with the Ford Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation, will host an event on “Democracy Delivers.” The event will galvanize action around ambitious political and economic reforms to deliver meaningful gains for people in countries around the world committed to strengthening their democracies.
