Today, bee populations are in decline due to many factors. This decline has a direct impact in ecosystem health and food production. As a result, farmers need to artificially pollinate their crops, which increases cost production and food prices, affecting the most socio-economically vulnerable communities. To address this situation, USAID’s Natural Wealth Program works in protecting natural ecosystems and sustainable agricultural productions by promoting a pollinator conservation initiative in the tropical dry forests in the Caribbean and flooded savannas in the Orinoquía region in Colombia.
